Derek R. Gray - Non-Executive Chairman, Chairman Audit Committee & member of Nominating & Compensation Committee
Derek has been a Director of the company since 1998. He has been Managing Director of S G Associates Limited, a UK fiscal advisory firm since 1971 and a Director of Velcro Industries N.V. since 1974.
Dr. Bernhard Steiner - Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Bernhard Steiner became Chief Executive Officer of CDT on September 14, 2004. Previously, Dr. Steiner held Executive director positions from 2003 at both Wayfinder Systems AB of Sweden, a navigation and location software development company, and OWR AG, a leading NBC protection solutions company. He served as a non-executive director at Wayfinder until 2008. From 1999 until 2003, Dr. Steiner was General Manager of the Software Solutions Group of Motorola, Inc., an electronics company. From 1994 until 1999 he was Chairman and Chief Executive of the NXT PLC Group of companies, Wharfedale and Mission, and from 1996 Group Managing Director of NXT PLC. Dr. Steiner, a graduate of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, during his business career also held executive sales and marketing positions at Canon, Sony and Amstrad PLC.
Charles W. Grinnell - Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
A general corporate legal practitioner with concentrations in securities law, mergers and acquisitions and taxation,  Charles has been a Director and Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Clean Diesel since its inception in 1994. He has held senior legal positions with several other public companies in the oil and gas, engineered products, automotive parts and cleantech fields. A member of the state and federal bars of New York and Connecticut, Charles holds a JD degree from Columbia University School of law and an LLM (Tax) degree from the University of Bridgeport School of Law. He entered practice initially with the New York City law firm of Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood.
John A. de Havilland - Non-Executive, Chairman Nominating & Compensation Committee and member of Audit Committee
John A. de Havilland has been a director of the Company since its inception. Mr. de Havilland was a director of J. Henry Schroder Wagg & Co. Ltd., a merchant bank, from 1972 until his retirement in 1989. Except for the period of April through December 1998, Mr. de Havilland was a Managing Director of Fuel-Tech N.V., a pollution control company, from 1987 through March 2002.
John Jay McCloy II - Non-Executive
John Jay McCloy II is currently the Chairman of Gravitas Technology Inc., an information technology firm focused on the financial sector and was previously CEO of NCT Group, Inc. on whose board he still sits. Alongside his extensive business experience, John has strong transatlantic links and vital connections with Asia and Europe. Mr. McCloy is currently a member of the US Council on Foreign Relations and is also a member of the Advisory Board of Princeton University (his alma mater). He is a Director of Ashland Management, Inc., Sound Shore Mutual Fund, Inc., Patriot Oil (UK) Limited and the American Council on Germany. In addition, Mr. McCloy advises a range of global organizations on policy matters and was formerly a Director of Business Development for Nicholson International and Chairman of Mondial Limited.
David F. Merrion - Non-Executive
David F. Merrion is currently the Chairman of Clean Diesel’s Technical Advisory Board. He has extensive experience in the diesel industry as the former Executive VP Engineering for Detroit Diesel Corporation, a Daimler Chrysler subsidiary, and continues as a consultant to Detroit Diesel Corporation as well as other companies and law firms. He is the Chairman of David F. Merrion, LLC, Chairman of Green Vision Technology and on the Board of Directors of Catalytica Energy Systems, Inc. David is an SAE Fellow and member of ASME and has a number of publications to his name. He holds a patent on a diesel electric hybrid power train and is a graduate of both General Motors Institute and MIT.
