Ports and Marine

Ports are highly sensitive areas. Globally, ports have high vehicle densities and represent some of the worst air quality.

The rise in fuel costs and general shift of transportation to lower cost shipping and rail is rapidly increasing the levels of waterborne freight, with levels in the US doubling between 1970 and 1995 and forecasted to triple by 2020. This is further driving activity and conjunction around port areas, contributing to more emissions and further reduction in air quality.

Port activity on the water ranges from large oceangoing vessels to harbor tugs, including principal sources of power and auxiliary gensets. On land, systems include gantry cranes, drayage trucks and other ground equipment to move containers to long-haul transportation.

Clean Diesel provides a range of verified solutions, including the Purifier family of filters, to reduce both PM and carbon emissions. SCR technology available from Clean Diesel can be used to reduce NOx in these sensitive areas.
