Fuel-Borne Catalysts
Biodiesel Synergy
Biodiesel blends are becoming increasingly popular as companies and governments are looking to reduce the environmental impact and overall carbon footprints from the transportation and distributed diesel-fueled power generation sectors. Biofuels are also an important element for governments to strengthen national security by reducing dependence on foreign oil. Depending on the feedstock and process, “well-to-wheels” analyses of B20 biodiesel blends typically report a 10-20% carbon reduction compared to conventional diesel. However, biodiesel tends to command a premium over conventional diesel and is also accompanied by an increase in NOx emissions.
The unique in-cylinder catalytic and multi-mode emission reduction mechanisms of Platinum Plus both enhance the carbon benefits of biodiesel and offset the higher costs and NOx emissions.
- 5-8% increased fuel economy (or more depending on engine and application). This has the effect of increasing the “well-to-wheels” carbon benefit of B20 to 15-25%
- 5-8% increased fuel economy, helping offset the price premium of biodiesel
- Overcomes the NOx penalty of biodiesel
- Reduced levels in the emissions of Particulate Matter (PM), Hydrocarbons (HC) Carbon Monoxide (CO)
